Chevron has awarded Worley an engineering and construction services contract for its recently sanctioned $4 billion Jansz-Io compression project 200 km offshore Western Australia.
The contract involves detailed engineering, design, and construction management services for the power transmission and communication components.
The value of the contract was not disclosed, but the award follows Worley’s completion of the pre-FEED and FEED phases of the project.
Jansz-Io is an integral part of the Chevron-operated Gorgon project. This additional development phase will use subsea compression technology to maintain long-term natural gas supply from Jansz-Io field which is piped to Barrow Island to feed the three LNG trains and a domestic gas plant at the island’s onshore infrastructure.
Other contractors to the Jansz-Io project are Baker Hughes for supply of the subsea compression manifold technology, Aker Solutions for delivery of the all-electric subsea gas compression system and, most recently, ABB for supply of the overall electrical power system (OGJ Online, Aug. 19, 2021).
Chevron, as operator, holds 47.3% interest in the Gorgon joint venture. Partners are ExxonMobil 25%, Shell 25%, Osaka Gas 1.25%, Tokyo Gas 1%, and JERA 0.417%.
