KrisEnergy delivers platform to Apsara, Gulf of Thailand
KrisEnergy Ltd. completed fabrication of the minimum facilities wellhead platform (mini-platform) for Apsara, Cambodia’s maiden oil field development in offshore Block A, Gulf of Thailand. Topsides and jacket are being transported to the Gulf of Thailand for installation.
Fabrication of the platform commenced early December 2019 at NOV’s PT Profab1 facility on Batam Island, Indonesia. Load out and sail away of the structures were completed on Aug. 25.
Block A covers an area of 3,083 sq km over Khmer basin in 50-80 m of water. To date, 27 exploration wells have been drilled within original outline of the block, of which 13 encountered oil with 3-138 ft net oil pay. Eight wells were oil and gas discoveries with 4-89 ft net oil pay and 3-55 ft net gas pay. Two wells were gas discoveries with 3-73 ft net gas with high CO2 content. Six wells were drilled on the Apsara Trend with each well encountering 73-138 ft net pay. Four sand reservoirs in two of the wells were tested and each flowed 410-860 bo/d.
Due to unproven production of the basin, development of Apsara will be in several phases to mitigate risk and provide time for collection and analysis of critical data for future phases. Mini Phase 1A development comprises the mini-platform and five initial development wells connected to the Ingenium II production barge for oil, gas, and water processing. It is expected to reach a peak rate of 7,500 bo/d in 2024-2026.
Cambodia Block A partners are operator KrisEergy (Apsara) Ltd. (71.25%), KrisEnergy (Cambodia) Ltd. (23.75%), and the Royal Government of Cambodia (5.00%).
