Petrobras has contracted Saipem for installation of a rigid riser-based subsea system for the Búzios presalt project. The field lies in Santos basin, offshore Rio de Janeiro, in 1,537-2,190 m of water. An exploration well was drilled last May in the southeast area of the field (OGJ Online, May 11, 2020).

The Búzios-5 production system will interconnect 15 wells to the FPSO in two phases. The contract includes engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the steel lazy wave risers (SLWR) and associated flowlines between all wells and the FPSO.

Scope of work includes five production risers, five injection risers, flowlines, a 16 km-long gas export line connected to an existing pipeline, 11 rigid jumpers, and 21 foundation subsea structures (risers and PLETs). The risers and flowlines will total 59 km. Saipem will use its FDS vessel for all subsea works.

Petrobras is the operator (90%) of the Búzios field consortium in partnership with CNOOC (5%) and CNODC (5%) (OGJ Online, Nov. 7, 2019).
