Pan Malaysia Transportation and Installation projects complete
Work related to the linked development of three natural gas fields offshore Malaysia for Sarawak Shell Bhd. and SapuraOMV is complete, McDermott International noted in a release.
The Pan Malaysia Transportation and Installation projects awarded to McDermott in November 2018 included the transport and installation of jackets, topsides and pipelines for Gorek, Larak, and Bakong gas fields (OGJ Online, Feb. 19, 2019). McDermott's vessel, the Derrick Barge 30, was used to install the structures and pipelines, including the longest corrosion resistant alloy pipeline in Malaysia. McDermott fabricated risers and spools in its fabrication facility in Batam, Indonesia.
The fields are on the 4,400-sq-km SK408 production-sharing contract area in the Central Luconia Gas Province in shallow water off Sarawak. The area is 130 km northwest of Miri.
Sapura discovered the fields in Late Miocene carbonate build-ups during a drilling campaign that began in 2014.
