Gazpromneft-Khantos, a Gazprom Neft subsidiary, has acquired development rights to deep strata at the southern section of Priobskoye field in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, western Siberia, the company said Mar. 30.

The extension, allowing for drilling to 3,200 m from the previous 2,700 m, gives access to Tyumenskaya and Achimovsky strata, and the Bazhenov formation. Following drilling of a 3,300-m prospecting well in 2019, oil-saturated inflow of 51 tonnes/d confirmed the commercial viability of Achimovsky.

Gazpromneft-Khantos plans to drill more than 30 horizontal wells involving multi-stage fracing at a pre-tested block from 2020. Peak production is expected in 2023, reaching more than 400,000 tonnes of oil equivalent/year.

According to the State Reserves Register, deep strata development will increase reserves in place to more than 10.4 million tonnes of oil and about 2.5 million tonnes of recoverable reserves.
