Aker Energy Ghana Ltd. entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Yinson Holdings Berhad to award a bare-boat charter and an operations and maintenance contract for a floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel at the Pecan field in the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points Block offshore Ghana.

The contracts will have a firm duration of 10 years followed by five yearly extension options exercisable by Aker Energy as operator on behalf of license partners Lukoil, Fueltrade, and Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC).

Aker Energy reported an oil discovery with its Pecan South-1A well in March 2019 and subsequently submitted an Integrated Plan of Development and Operations to Ghanaian authorities for development (OGJ Online, Mar. 6, 2019; Mar. 28, 2019).

Once developed and installed, the FPSO lie over and connect to a subsea production system some 2,400 m subsea. Together, this will form the fourth installation to produce oil and gas resources offshore Ghana. The FPSO will be Yinson’s second vessel to operate in Ghanaian waters, with the first being FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor, operating for ENI since 2017 (OGJ Online, May 22, 2017).
