Siccar Point Energy E&P plans to develop Cambo oil and gas field in the West of Shetlands area off the UK with two subsea drill centers and a dedicated floating production, storage, and offloading vessel.

It has applied for development involving the drilling of eight production wells and four water-injection wells. The development also will complete for production the Cambo 204/10a-5Y appraisal well drilled last year (OGJ Online, Aug. 23, 2018).

The company expects drilling to begin in 2021 and oil production to start in 2023.

It projects oil production from the first development phase starting at 1,230 b/d in 2023 and peaking at 51,000 b/d in 2025-27. Gas production will start at 6 MMscfd in 2023 and peak at 30 MMscfd in 2025-26.

Shuttle tankers will carry oil away from the FPSO. Gas will move via a 70 km pipeline to a connection with the West of Shetland Pipeline southeast of the field.

Production life is estimated at 25 years. Water depth in the development area is 1,050-1,100 m. The gas pipeline will be in 190-1,085 m of water.

Discovered in 2002, Cambo field is on the Corona Ridge structural feature 30 km southwest of Rosebank oil field and 50 km north Schiehallion oil field. Siccar Point describes it as a large basement high with sedimentary sequences draped over the top of the structure.

Siccar Point operates the project with a 70% interest. Shell UK Ltd. holds 30%.
