Canada's minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development invited bids for oil and gas exploration rights on three parcels in the Beaufort Sea/Mackenzie Delta region.

HOUSTON, Mar. 20 -- Canada's minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development invited bids for oil and gas exploration rights on three parcels in the Beaufort Sea/Mackenzie Delta region.

Parcel 1 covers 205,321 ha in the central Beaufort Sea, Parcel 2 covers 103,711 ha in the northeastern Mackenzie Delta, and Parcel 3 covers 108,185 ha in the western Beaufort Sea.

Bid deadline is July 17, 2007. The tracts are issued for a five-year term followed by a 4-year term, and the drilling of one exploratory or delineation well is a condition for entering the second period.
