HOUSTON, Sept. 22 – Petronas Carigali and Murphy Oil Corp.’s Canam Brunei subsidiary officially joined the production sharing contract on deepwater Block CA-1 off Brunei, previously known as Block J.
Total SA said the signing of the deed of amendment enables a drilling program to start shortly based on seismic studies already performed on the block. The block covers more than 5,850 sq km in 1,000-2,750 m of water 100 km northwest of the coast.
Total remains block operator with 54% interest. Other participants are BHP Billiton, Hess Corp., and the two new entities.
