Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. reported a new field discovery at the Vadatal-1 exploratory well in NELP Block CB-ONN-2004/2 in the Tarapur area of coastal Maharashtra state 100 km north of Mumbai.

– Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. reported a new field discovery at the Vadatal-1 exploratory well in NELP Block CB-ONN-2004/2 in the Tarapur area of coastal Maharashtra state 100 km north of Mumbai.

Perforations at 1,137-48 m in the EP-IV formation of Mid-Eocene age flowed 278 b/d of oil on a 6-mm bean. TD is 1,784 m. ONGC said the discovery opened a large area for exploration.

Meanwhile, the ONGC board approved development of BHE and BH-35 fields east of Mumbai High South field. BHE was discovered in 1976. The company will locate a minimum facilities well platform between the fields.

Ultimate recovery is estimated at 3 million bbl of oil and 18 bcf of gas during 8 years, with peak rates of 2,500 b/d of oil and 9 MMcfd of gas. Directional wells will be drilled, and oil and gas will be produced to the SH complex 10 km from BHE.
