HOUSTON, Aug. 27
– Lexam Explorations Inc., Toronto, agreed to participate in a process to prepare a new document in compliance with the US National Environmental Policy Act regarding its authority to drill exploratory wells at the Baca oil and gas project in Saguache County, Colo.

The San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council filed legal action maintaining that the US Fish & Wildlife Service decision to issue a finding of no significant impact based on the initial environmental assessment does not comply with NEPA.

FWS is scheduled to complete the new document by April 2011. Lexam plans to proceed with the exploration program later that year (OGJ, Sept. 1, 1997, p. 78).

The company’s early 2010 offer to sell its mineral interests in the Baca National Wildlife Refuge for $8.4 million received no response by the court-set date of June 11.
