HOUSTON, Aug. 31 – SK Energy Co. Ltd., Seoul, plans to shoot 3D seismic over La Mocha Consuelo, highest-potential prospect on the 570,000-acre SSJN-5 block in Colombia’s Lower Magdalena basin based on encouraging results from reprocessed 2D seismic.
The La Mocha structure previously produced gas from shallow reservoirs and could have deeper oil targets. Potentially productive reservoirs include the Miocene Tubara and Porquero formations.
The 3D survey is to start in late 2010 and be completed by May 2011, said 25% interest owner Petro Vista Energy Corp., San Clemente, Calif. Drilling could start in late 2011.
Petroamerica Oil Corp. is paying Petro Vista’s share of 3D seismic costs under a farmout to earn 25% interest in the block. SK Energy has 50% interest, and Petro Vista has 25%.
