Texalta Petroleum Ltd., Calgary, completed a flowing oil discovery from Mississippian Alida at East Wordsworth in Southeast Saskatchewan.

HOUSTON, June 12 -- Texalta Petroleum Ltd., Calgary, completed a flowing oil discovery from Mississippian Alida at East Wordsworth in Southeast Saskatchewan.

The Texalta et al. Wordsworth East HZ 2A2-23-4B11-14-7-3w2 well flowed at the rate of 456 b/d on an 8/64-in. choke with associated gas at high rates. The well cut 300 m of potential oil pay in the horizontal section. TD is 2,033 m MD.

The well site is 2.5 miles from Carlyle Alida pool, where a gas market is available.

Texalta, which said the new pool may contain as much as 4 million bbl of oil plus gas, is operator with 47.5% working interest in a 1,920-acre project area.

Texalta said it completed two seismic surveys in the area to firm up drilling locations for other joint venture projects in the greater Carlyle Queensdale area.
