HOUSTON, June 17
-- Cygam Energy Inc., Calgary, said its Vega Oil SpA unit completed shooting a 900-km 2D marine seismic survey on the C.R148.VG permit off Sicily 45 km southeast of Italy’s Mila oil field.

Cygam committed to buy at least 200 km of the program to better evaluate the Aretusa structure in the central part of the permit in 100 m of water. Mila field production-tested 3,000 b/d of oil from the Triassic Taormina formation.

Other companies active in the Mediterranean basin have given Cygam preliminary expressions of interest to participate in the permit.

After processing and interpreting the new data, Vega plans to shoot 100 sq km of 3D seismic to further investigate Aretusa and pick an exploratory drilling location.
