HOUSTON, Aug. 18 – Hungarian Horizon Energy Ltd. has spud the Gorbehaza-1 well in the Nyirseg North permit in northeastern Hungary.
The well is projected to 1,300 m targeting Pannonian clastic and Miocene volcaniclastic reservoirs. The reservoirs were found to be gas bearing at the same operator’s Hajdunanas discovery 2.2 km north.
The Hajdunanas-1 discovery well and an appraisal well were drilled on a four-way dip closure identified on 3D seismic and flowed at a combined 30 MMcfd of gas.
HHE and JKX Oil & Gas PLC took a farmout to earn two thirds of Calgary independent Dualex Energy International Inc.’s 37.5% interest in the permit’s panhandle area with the recording of 120 sq km of 3D seismic in late 2008. Other permit interests are Ascent Resources PLC 20.167% and Swede Resources .667%.
