Lundin Petroleum AB has let a contract to CGGVeritas to shoot a 3D seismic survey over Avaldsnes field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the North Sea.
The Ocean Sirius vessel is starting acquisition of broadband data over Avaldsnes, estimated to possibly be Norway’s third largest oil discovery (OGJ Online, Sept. 26, 2011, Newsletter).
Lundin Petroleum, as operator of the PL 501 license, chose to proceed with the survey based on encouraging results from a 2D broadband research and development test conducted earlier this year over the Luno discovery.
