Austin Exploration Ltd., Melbourne, will soon spud its first Eagle Ford shale well on a 93.5% owned, 5,000-acre prospect in Burleson County, Tex.

Krueger-1 will be the first of an initial three-well vertical well program to collect data to be used later to horizontally develop the company’s Birch prospect in the Giddings field area. An independent technical report indicates the potential for as many as 31 wells on the prospect.

With severe drought throughout Texas, Austin drilled and completed a water well flowing 60 gal/min to provide ample water for drilling and frac fluid for the three initial wells.
