HOUSTON, Dec. 23 -- Norway's Statoil ASA reported a wildcat well resulted in a dry hole on the Blåmeis prospect in the Norne area.

The 6608/11-3 well was drilled in Production License 128 in search of oil in Jurassic sandstone. But drilling was terminated at a depth of 2,000 m in Triassic sediments.

The well was drilled about 15 km east of Statoil's Norne field. The wildcat's results will have no impact on future exploration in the Norne area, Statoil said.
