ConocoPhillips to drill Norwegian Sea exploration well

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS has let a contract with CIMC Offfshore AS on behalf of Odfjell Drilling AS to drill in production license (PL) 891 in the Norwegian Sea.

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS has let a contract with CIMC Offshore AS on behalf of Odfjell Drilling AS to drill in production license (PL) 891 in the Norwegian Sea.

The contract includes the drilling of one firm exploration well (6507/5-10S) using the Deepsea Yantai semisubmersible drilling rig with the option to drill two further wells. The firm scope of work is estimated to take 72 days and will commence in third-quarter 2024.

As a result of the contract, the firm backlog for the rig is expected to now extend into fourth-quarter 2024.

ConocoPhillips is operator at PL 891 (80%) with partner Pandion Energy AS (20%).
