TPAO flow tests Western Black Sea appraisal

Jan. 12, 2022
TPAO performed the first flow test of the Turkali-1 well in the Sakarya gas field in the Western Black Sea.

State-owned Turkish Petroleum Corp. (TPAO) performed the first flow test of the Turkali-1 well in the Sakarya gas field in the Western Black Sea. Results and analysis indicates that the well can deliver up to 95 MMscfd.

The well, the first appraisal in the field, was drilled to 3,920 m TD by the Fatih drillship in 2,143 m of water. Flow tests were performed by the Kanuni drillship, and the first reservoir level (R2) flowed gas at 40.4 MMscfd.

Data and samples acquired from the flow tests will optimize field development work and refine front-end engineering and design (FEED) for development.

The field development project comprises a subsea gas production system with a receiving and processing terminal on the Filyos shore. First gas is expected in 2023.

TPAO has so far discovered a total of 540 billion cu m natural gas in the deepwater of the Western Black Sea.
