Aker moves 2021 drilling plan forward with Barents Sea well consent

Aker BP ASA has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for exploration drilling in Block 7234/6-1 of the Barents Sea.

Aker BP ASA has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for exploration drilling in Block 7234/6-1 of the Barents Sea.

The prospect, Stangnestind, lies in 672 m of water in production license 858. Drilling is expected to take 40 days. Pre-drill estimated are 13-108 MMboe, according to the operator’s Feb. 4 capital markets update.

Aker BP is operator of the license with 40%. Partners are Lukoil Overseas North Shelf AS (20%), Petoro AS (20%), and Equinor Energy AS (20%).
