NGL Energy Partners to expand LEX II Pipeline to boost Delaware basin produced-water transport capacity
NGL Water Solutions, a unit of Tulsa-based NGL Energy Partners LP, is beginning expansion of its Lea County Express Pipeline System (LEX II) to support produced water management in the Delaware basin.
The LEX II extension includes 60 miles of 24- and 30-in. OD pipeline, along with additional disposal wells and injection facilities to increase out-of-basin disposal capacity.
Upon completion, the extension will expand the long-haul LEX system to 81 miles and add 165,000 b/d of capacity. The system will be capable of transporting about 560,000 b/d of produced water from Eddy and Lea counties, NM, to Andrews County, Tex., with potential to increase capacity to 650,000 b/d.
The project is backed by a long-term volume commitment contract that includes increased throughput commitments and an added four-township dedication area in Eddy County.
According to Doug White, executive vice-president of NGL Water Solutions, the project supports the company’s strategy to provide scalable, reliable produced water management through its integrated pipeline network and Central Basin Platform pore space position.
