NNPC and Awoba Unit Field joint venture partner Newcross Exploration and Production restarted production from Awoba field.

Nigerian National Petroleum Co. Ltd. (NNPC) and Awoba Unit Field joint venture partner Newcross Exploration and Production Ltd. restarted production from Awoba field 40 km southwest of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Awoba field production was shut down in February 2022 due to evacuation issues and crude oil theft. Since the restart on Apr. 13, 2024, production has averaged 8,000 b/d and is expected to plateau at 12,000 b/d at full ramp up within 30 days.

The field straddles OMLs 18 and 24. It is bounded by Ekulama field in the east and a major fault in the north. Ten wells (9 conventional, 1 sidetrack) have been drilled in the field to date.

Awoba is under management of the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS).
