Neptune Energy Norge AS has been granted consent for start-up of Duva field in the North Sea, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said July 28. The field, with operator-estimated reserves of 11 million std cu m of oil equivalent (71 MMboe), is expected to come on stream in August.

Duva oil and gas field, in production license 636, was discovered in 2016 and is ready for start-up with a subsea installation comprising four wells—three oil producers and one gas producer (OGJ Online, Apr. 22, 2021).

The field lies 14 km northeast of Gjøa field. The subsea template is tied into existing subsea infrastructure on Gjøa. Product stream is routed from Duva to the platform on Gjøa field for processing and export (OGJ Online, July 23, 2020). Oil is transported to Mongstad in Vestland county, while the gas is sent to the United Kingdom.

Neptune estimates the project cost at 5.1 billion kroner.

"Duva is the first discovery to be developed in the Agat Formation, and we're hoping for additional discoveries and developments in the same formation,” said Kalmar Ildstad, director of license management, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

Neptune is operator of the license with 30% interest. Partners are PGNiG Upstream Norway AS 30%, Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS 30%, and Sval Energi AS 10%.
