Key takeaways

  • Azule Energy started production from the Agogo FPSO offshore Angola.
  • The FPSO has a pilot CCUS unit to recover CO2.

Azule Energy has reached first oil production from the Agogo floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel offshore Angola.

The FPSO is part of the Agogo Integrated West Hub (Agogo IWH) project which develops Agogo and Ndungu fields in the West Hub of Block 15/06.

The fields have combined estimated reserves of about 450 million bbl with projected peak production of 175,000 b/d produced via the Agogo and Ngoma FPSOs.

The Agogo FPSO has a production capacity of 120,000 b/d of oil. Topside and marine systems are fully electric. It has a pilot carbon capture and utilization-storage (CCUS) unit to recover remaining CO2 volumes, and includes closed flare system, hydrocarbon blanketing, combined cycle technology, automated process controls (OGJ Online, May 16, 2025).

Azule is operator of the block with 36.84% interest. Partners are Sonangol E&P (36.84%) and Sinopec International (26.32%).
