Russian company Sibneft has won rights to develop three blocks in a tender for upstream acreage held in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district. The Pyakutinskoye, North Noyabrsk, and Volyntoiskoye blocks are believed to harbor potential reserves of more than 700 million bbl, according to Sibneft. The firm plans to spend $74 million on exploration work at the three blocks. Sibneft recently launched an aggressive $1 billion field development program. The company is also this year starting production from four new fields and will begin producing oil from new reservoirs at another two fields.
Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., a unit of Kerr-McGee Corp., has awarded a letter of intent to Cal Dive International Inc. for the installation of infield flowlines in the Nansen and Boomvang fields, located, respectively, on East Breaks 602 and East Breaks 642, 643, and 683 Blocks in the US Gulf of Mexico in 3,600 ft of water. The letter of intent covers the installation of 100,000 ft of 6-in. diameter pipelines, five flexible production risers, and 86,000 ft of associated umbilicals, plus the jumpers and flying leads necessary to tie in three subsea trees. Construction is expected to begin in May 2001.Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas operates the Boomvang field with a 30% working interest; Enterprise Oil Inc. holds 50%; and Ocean Energy Inc., 20%. Kerr-McGee operates Nansen field with a 50% working interest, and Ocean Energy holds the remaining 50%.
Esenjay Exploration Inc., Houston, said Thursday it's tested its Dawdy Gas Unit No. 1 well in Matagorda County, Tex., at an unstimulated flowing rate of 9.9 MMcfd of natural gas and 312 b/d of condensate with flowing tubing pressure of 5,200 psi through a 20/64-in. choke. The well was tested into a sales line. Esenjay is the operator of the well and owns a 33% working interest. Ocean Energy Inc., Houston, owns a 24.5% working interest in the well. Esenjay plans to drill four additional wells this year in Matagorda County.
