U.K. APPROVES AMERADA'S SCOTT FIELD PROJECT

Amerada Hess Ltd. has received U.K. Department of Energy approval to develop Scott oil field in Central North Sea Blocks 15/21 and 15/22. Scott, which holds 450 million bbl of oil, 290 bcf of gas and 40 million bbl of gas liquids, is scheduled to go on stream at the end of 1993. Plateau oil production will be about 180,000 b/d. The field will require water injection capacity of 230,000 b/d. To cost about 1 billion ($1.86 billion), Scott is the biggest current project off the U.K.
