Amoco Production Co. plans this month to begin an $11 million infill drilling and well conversion program in Hockley County, Tex.
The company will drill 37 infill wells on the southwest portion of its 16,340 acre Levelland Unit in eastern Levelland field and convert 18 oil wells to water injection wells.
Using as many as four rigs, Amoco expects to have most of the infill wells complete by yearend. The wells, with an average depth of 4,900 ft, will be drilled to Permian San Andres.
Levelland Unit has 494 producing oil wells and 449 water injection wells with total production of more than 14,500 b/d. Amoco's interest is 85.1%.
