Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) exceeded its 2022 oil and natural gas production target by 3.2%, the company said in a release Jan. 17. The company had reduced its 2022-2026 production targets in January 2022 to about 2.6 MMboe/d from its initial forecast of 2.7 MMboe/d in November 2021, reflecting a reduced share of interest by co-participation agreements in Atapu and Sepia fields (OGJ Online Dec. 20, 2021; Jan. 19, 2022).

Total oil and gas production in 2022 was 2.684 MMboe/d, higher than the 2.6 MMboe/d target. Commercial production reached 2.361 MMboe/d, 2.7% above the target of 2.3 MMboe/d, the company said.

Oil production for the year was 2.154 million b/d, 2.6% above the target of 2.1 million b/d.

In 2022, the operator began production on two new platforms. In April, the Guanabara FPSO, the first definitive unit in Mero field began production, and in December, the P-71 FPSO began producing in Itapu field (OGJ Online, May 2, 2022; Dec. 22, 2022).

The P-68 platform in Berbigão and Sururu fields, and the Carioca FPSO in Sépia field reached maximum oil production capacity in 2022, the latter of which reached a new monthly production record for a presalt platform with 174,000 b/d in November. A record for monthly oil production in a single well also occurred in November as ATP06 on platform P-70 hit 56,500 b/d.

Also in 2022, the operator advanced its Campos basin renovation plan, beginning operation of 10 new production wells and four complementary development injectors wells, expanding the production potential of the basin by 94,000 b/d, the company said.
