Neptune Energy produced first gas from L5a-D4 well in L5a-D field, the deepest producing gas field of the Dutch North Sea. The high pressure, high temperature well lies 100 km North of Den Helder, Netherlands, and is tied back to the L5a-D platform. It was tapped at a depth of 5.5 km. Gas produced at L5a-D is transported via the 264-km NOGAT pipeline to the plant in Den Helder.
Neptune Energy is operator of L5a-D4 and the L5a-D platform with 60% interest. EBN holds the remainder.
In October 2019, the E17a-A6 well, which lies almost 160 km from Den Helder, was brought on stream. Neptune Energy Netherlands holds 37.15% interest and EBN holds 46.48%.
