Canada rig count down 3 units
The rig count in Canada fell by 3 units, ending the ended Nov. 14 with 188 rigs working, according to data from Baker Hughes.
A 5-rig drop in oil-directed rigs in Canada was partially offset by a 2-unit gain in gas-directed rigs. Rigs drilling for oil ended the week with 124 units, while those drilling for gas ended the week at 64 units working.
The overall US drilling rig count increased by 1 unit this week to reach a total of 549 rigs working.
In the US, 3 additional rigs were drilling for oil, bringing the total count to 417. That number is down 61 from this time last year. The number of gas-directed rigs fell by 3 to a total of 125 working for the week. This time last year, 101 rigs were drilling for gas in the US.
The rig counts for US land and offshore waters were unchanged this week with respective counts of 527 and 19. One additional rig was drilling in inland waters, bringing the count to 3 units working this week.
Leading the major oil-and gas-producing states was New Mexico with a 2-unit gain to end the week with 105 rigs working. Texas dropped the most rigs this week. Louisiana ended the week with 44 rigs working, one more than last week. Oklahoma and North Dakota each dropped a unit to end the week with respective counts of 41 and 28.
