Equinor Energy AS had been granted a permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for drilling in the North Sea.
Exploration well 31/2-23 S and appraisal well 31/2-23 A will be drilled in production license 923 by the Deepsea Stavanger semi-submersible drilling rig in April.
Equinor is operator of the license with 40% interest. Partners are DNO Norge AS (20%), Petoro AS (20%), and Wellesley Petroleum AS (20%).
