The Strike Energy Ltd. joint venture in onshore North Perth basin permit EP 469 in Western Australia has flowed gas at a peak rate of 90 MMcfd in an initial test of the Kingia sandstone reservoir in its West Erregulla-3 appraisal well.

The operator said it has been testing producibility across a 40 m interval in the primary reservoir from a depth of 4,733 m.

Interim results are reflective of the high-quality gas-charged reservoir observed in the well’s petrophysical analysis, the company said.

The peak rate was made at a flowing wellhead pressure of 3,010 psi on a 76/64-in. choke. No sand or formation water has been observed so far during the test.

The gas stream produced from the Kingia is a low impurity dry gas similar to other gas results in the region.

The well will now be shut in for a pressure build-up before a final test program.

Strike is operator with 50% interest. Warrego Energy Ltd. has the remaining 50% interest.
