Sacgasco Ltd., Perth, spudded the Borba 1-7 natural gas well in the Borba Area of Mutual Interest (AMI) in the Northern Sacramento basin, onshore California. The well will test multiple stacked 3D anomalies in the 3,200-9,500 ft interval and will finish in basement rocks.

The company said Borba could open a multi tcf natural gas trend in the basin, testing over 5,000 ft of gas saturated sediments with 11 or more mapped reservoir intervals in one well.

The Graham Drilling Rig 5 drilled a 20-in. surface conductor to 50 ft late Feb. 22 and is currently drilling a 17 ½-in. hole to a planned depth of 1,800 ft where 13 ⅜-in. casing will be set to seal off and protect freshwater aquifers.

The prospective interval will cover more than 6,300 ft. Mudlogging equipment will sample rock cuttings to measure natural gas shows in drilling mud after running casing.

Drilling is expected to take 25-35 days.

An independent prospective resources report of the project in Glenn County, completed by ERC Equipoise Pte Ltd., assessed a mean unrisked prospective resource of 141 bcf (gross 100% JV) and 75 bcf net Sacgasco entitlement share after royalty) of recoverable natural gas for the prospect.

Sacgasco Ltd. is operator in Borba AMI and the Borba 1-7 well (66.67% after drilling) with partner Xstate Resources Ltd. (33.33% after drilling).
