Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. started the permitting process for acquisition of 450 km of 2D seismic data in deep Kavango basin in the Kalahari Desert of North East Namibia to support the active three well program.

The Kavango basin is comprised of five sub-basins and numerous structural features, and the initial seismic program will provide the basis for evaluation and drilling of a large set of conventional oil and gas prospects, said Scot Evans, chief executive officer, in a Jan. 21 release.

The proposed seismic survey will be conducted along existing roads and tracks. The Environmental Impact Assessment process for the operation has begun with posting of public sessions. Polaris Natural Resources Inc. will perform the service with the Polaris Explorer 860.
