Total drilling activity in North America decreased slightly the week ended June 6 with a total of 673 rigs working, reported Baker Hughes. A 2-rig gain in Canada helped offset a 4-rig loss in the United States.
The total rig count in North America is down 64 rigs from the same time last year.
Canada had 114 rigs working, up 2 week-over-week, but down 29 units from the same period last year.
There were 559 rigs working in the US and its waters, down 4 from last week and down 35 from the same period in 2024.
The number of rotary rigs working in US inland waters was unchanged at 2, up 2 from the year-ago period. Offshore activity was unchanged with 13 rigs working. Nine rigs were drilling in the US Gulf of Mexico, unchanged from last week.
Louisiana added a single rig to end the week with 31 rigs working.
Texas and Oklahoma each dropped 2 rigs, leaving respective counts of 264 and 50. Utah dropped 1 unit to end the week with 10 rigs running.
