Statoil isolates Snorre well, continues inspections

Statoil said it would be Dec. 13 before it could predict when Snorre A and its Vigdis satellite in the North Sea can resume production of 205,000 b/d of oil shut in since Nov. 28 (OGJ Online, Dec. 2, 2004).

HOUSTON, Dec. 7 -- Statoil said it would be Dec. 13 before it could predict when Snorre A and its Vigdis satellite in the North Sea can resume production of 205,000 b/d of oil shut in since Nov. 28 (OGJ Online, Dec. 2, 2004).

Statoil isolated the gas-bearing formation from which the Snorre A platform well was leaking and was preparing to pull pipe and extension pieces out of the hole and inspect the well template and the seabed mooring structures for the Snorre A tension-leg platform tethers.

Statoil said surveys show the TLP remaining "robust in relation to the safety requirements established for this unit."
