Layne Christensen Co., a water-well drilling company, constructed a 22-in high-capacity non-potable water pipeline and infrastructure system to serve oil and gas producers in the Delaware basin. The $18-million water infrastructure project covers nearly 1,000 acres near Pecos, Tex.
The system includes non-potable water wells, pump stations, and in-ground storage reservoirs. The 20-mile pipeline runs north towards Orla, Tex.
The project is expected to meet industry’s increasing demand for water for hydraulic fracturing jobs, which can require 500,000-700,000 bbl of water per completion in the Delaware basin.
Layne Christensen paid for the project. Production companies having operations near the line include Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Centennial Oil & Gas Co. in Denver, and WPX Energy in Tulsa.
