Mari Gas orders new rig from China

Mari Gas Co. Ltd. (MGCL), Islamabad, has signed an agreement with Honghua Petroleum Equipment Co. Ltd. to import a new drilling rig from China.

KARACHI, Dec. 21 -- Mari Gas Co. Ltd. (MGCL), Islamabad, has signed an agreement with Honghua Petroleum Equipment Co. Ltd. to import a new rig from China.

The rig, which has the capacity to drill down to 5,000 m, will be delivered in 5 months.

MGCL says the E&P sector in Pakistan is facing a shortage of rig availability, and the new rig will help it implement exploration and development plans to boost production activities in the country.

MGCL said it also plans to buy more rigs in the future to meet its operational requirements.
