LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3 -- Mexico's state-owned Petroleos Mexicanos E&P subsidiary has awarded a $374 million-peso contract to J Ray McDermott for the PP-Maloob-C drilling platform for Maloob field in the Bay of Campeche.

The contract calls for the procurement, construction, testing, transport, and installation of the platform. The work will last 510 days, beginning on Dec. 7.

In January J Ray McDermott announced that Mexico's Gulf Coast Port of Altamira, in the state of Tamaulipas, would be the site of the firm's new construction facility.

"Located on Mexico's east coast, near the city of Tampico, Altamira is the latest addition to our global construction locations," said Bob Deason, president and chief operating officer, who added that the firm planned to target other projects for Pemex.
