Daewoo Shipbuilding lets drilling equipment contracts

HOUSTON, Nov. 9 -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) has let two drilling equipment contracts totaling $213 million to Aker Kvaerner unit Aker Kvaerner MH, Kristiansand, Norway. One contract is for construction of a single drillship, and the other, for a semisubmersible rig.

The scope of work for both contracts includes complete drilling equipment packages, installation, and commissioning supervision.

The semi is to be delivered in third-quarter 2010, while the drillship is slated for delivery in fourth quarter 2010.
