HOUSTON, Jan. 15 -- Senergy Ltd., Aberdeen, has been awarded a 6-month contract from Russia's Vanyoganneft for well and completion designs for a 13-well drilling program in Western Siberia.

The wells are to be drilled on a shallow-oil horizon overlying existing Vanyogan field. This horizon has remained undeveloped due to its complex structure and potential difficulties with sand production and heavy-oil recovery. The contract work is part of a pilot project that will guide the choosing of the optimal development program.

Senergy secured the Vanyoganneft contract following successful preproject support work carried out for the company earlier this year.
