Installation of ESS due two North Sea fields

Petro-Canada has let a multimillion dollar contract to Weatherford International Ltd. for installation of expandable sand screens (ESS) in producing wells at Guillemot and Saxon oil fields, northeast of Aberdeen in the North Sea.

HOUSTON, Sept. 27 -- Petro-Canada has let a multimillion dollar contract to Weatherford International Ltd. for installation of expandable sand screens (ESS) in producing wells at Guillemot and Saxon oil fields, northeast of Aberdeen in the North Sea.

The 2-year contract involves the supply of four 5½-in. ESS completions in open hole applications in an initial four-well program.

The first of the four wells is scheduled for completion by yearend.

GlobalSantaFe's GSF Arctic III semisubmersible will install the ESS, which will total about 11,000 ft.
