Bohai Bay oil field starts production

HOUSTON, Mar. 19 -- CNOOC Ltd. started production from Bozhong 28-2S oil field, the largest of five startups the company plans in 2009 in Bohai Bay off northeastern China.
BZ28-2S, discovered in 2006, is in 21 m of water in southern Bohai Bay. Four wells are making 4,000 b/d.
Its central platform and floating production, storage, and offloading vessel are to serve 49 wells in BZ28-2S and adjacent BZ29-4, BZ28-2SN, and BZ34-1N fields. Combined production is expected to build to 25,000 b/d from 49 wells by 2011.
CNOOC owns 100% interest in the fields.
