Al-Khafji Joint Operations (KFJO), which manages offshore fields in the Partitioned Neutral Zone of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, has let a contract to McDermott International Inc. for engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of a platform in Hout oil field.

The project includes a tripod jacket, deck, and flare tower and 42 km of 24-in. subsea pipeline in 31 m of water.

Hout is one of several offshore Neutral Zone fields that together produce about 350,000 b/d, mostly from Khafji field, an extension of supergiant Safaniyah field off Saudi Arabia. Hout also is an extension of Safaniyah.
