In the article titled "Enterprise evaluating Howe prospect in UK North Sea" (OGJ Online, Feb. 22, 2001), the Howe prospect was reported to contain up to 55 billion bbl of oil. The correct number is 55 million. Also, preliminary estimates of hydrocarbons are 30-55 million bbl, not 30-55 billion bbl. OGJ Online regrets the errors.

Nuevo Energy Co., Houston, has abandoned the first exploration well in its 1.9-million-acre Accra-Keta Permit off Ghana as a dry hole. The $12.5 million well was drilled in 1,021 ft of water to 10,100 ft TD Nuevo is the operator of the permit with a 50% interest. The company also said its Golden 1-21 well in Kern County, Calif., flowed 1 MMcfd of gas with flowing tubing pressure of 1,240 psi.

Santos Ltd., had an oil discovery in the South Australian section of the Cooper basin. The Moomba 136 well pentrated the Jurassic Hutton Sand. A drillstem test flowed 3,845 b/d at a flowing tubing head pressure of 210 psig. Santos operates the PPL 9 Joint Venture Parties. The well will be cased, with production expected by the end of March.

Agip SPA said the Miglianico 1 well north of Ortona on Italy's Abruzzo coast could produce 1,000 b/d of oil and 32 thousand cu m/day of gas. Size of the discovery will be known only after test wells have been drilled. Data suggests reserves 40-45 million bbl.

Santos Ltd., operator of the South West Queensland Unit, announced a deeper pool gas discovery in Roto field in the Queensland sector of the Cooper/Eromanga basins. The Roti 2 flowed 4 MMcfd of gas and 223 b/d of associated condensate from a new pool in the Permian Patchawarra Formation.

GEOCAN Energy Inc., Calgary, and Unigeo AS of the Czech Republic added the 12,355-acre Bucovice Block to the previously announced acquisition of the Rostin Block and the Breclav Block. The Bucovice Block brings the companies' land holdings in the Czech Republic to 56,647 acres. GEOCAN will earn an 82.35% working interest before payout and a 70% working interest after payout.

Seven Seas Petroleum Inc., Houston, signed a contract with Ecopetrol, the Colombian national oil company, to explore the Subthrust Dindal prospect below Seven Seas' Guaduas oil field. Seven Seas owns a 100% interest in the Deep Dindal Association contract and has committed to drill a test well before Oct. 24, 2002.
