Forest Oil begins initial production from deep shelf discovery

HOUSTON, Nov. 18 -- Forest Oil Corp. Monday reported initial production from its deep shelf discovery Well #21 on South Timbalier Block 72 in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana.

The #21 well was drilled to 19,072 ft TD, taking 90 days to drill and put on line. It is producing 2,000 b/d of oil for sale and 1.4 MMcfd of natural gas, with a flowing tubing pressure of 5,500 psi, operator Forest said.

Forest holds a 75% working interest in the well, and Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., a subsidiary of Dominion Resources Inc., holds a 25% working interest.
