Cidade de Caraguatatuba FPSO arrives in Lapa field offshore Brazil

The Cidade de Caraguatatuba floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has arrived in Petroleo Brasilierio SA-operated Lapa field in the Santos basin presalt, where the unit’s production system is slated to start up in August.

The Cidade de Caraguatatuba floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has arrived in Petroleo Brasilierio SA-operated Lapa field in the Santos basin presalt, where the unit’s production system is slated to start up in August (OGJ Online, Feb. 16, 2016).

The 337.4-m-long, 28.8-m-high FPSO can produce 100,000 b/d of oil, store 1.6 million bbl of oil, and compress 5 million cu m/day of gas.

Integration of the FPSO was recently completed in the BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis. The hull was constructed Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding’s shipyard in Chiba, Japan, while the integration of modules took place at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.

Lapa field is 270 km offshore Sao Paulo in 2,140 m of water. The BM-S-9 block is operated by Petrobras with 45% interest. Partners are Royal Dutch Shell PLC unit BG E&P Brasil Ltda. 30% and Repsol Sinopec Brasil SA 25%.
