DOE plans workshops this month on E&P environmental issues

The US Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory is hosting two workshops this month to get input on exploration and production environmental issues.

HOUSTON, Jan. 8 -- The US Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory is hosting two workshops with stakeholders this month to get input on exploration and production environmental issues.

The meetings will be Jan. 15 in Houston and Jan. 17 in Aurora, Colo.

The workshops will focus on identifying research needs to improve air quality and produced water management. Attendees can provide specific input for NETL's upcoming solicition, "Research in Air Quality and Produced Water Management for Oil and Gas Exploration and Production."

Issues to be discussed are: offshore produced water, onshore produced water, coalbed methane produced water, hazardous air pollutant emissions, integrated air quality management, integrated water quality management, and particulate emissions and visibility.

NETL will ask attendees to define goals, actions to achieve those objectives, the effect of those objectives, and the regulatory agencies to be involved.
