Suncor plans Fort McMurray delayed coker

Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary, will use ConocoPhillips technology for a large, grassroots delayed coking unit to be installed at its Fort McMurray oil sands upgrader in northern Alberta. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

HOUSTON, Sept. 29 -- Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary, will use ConocoPhillips technology for a large, grassroots delayed coking unit to be installed at its Fort McMurray oil sands upgrader in northern Alberta. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The unit will increase the upgrader's production capacity of 225,000 b/d to 500,000-550,000 b/d in 2010-12.

The unit will use ConocoPhillips' ThruPlus technology to upgrade Athabasca bitumen.
